The long-awaited “Land of the Morning Light” region in the Black Desert SEA is now ready for adventurers to explore, according to the recent announcement from the game developer, Pearl Abyss. This newly unveiled region offers players an enriching journey through stunning landscapes reminiscent of the Joseon era, greatly expanding the scope of the game’s universe.
« Land of the Morning Light » is meticulously crafted with picturesque surroundings, flora and houses, echoing the grandeur of Joseon-era architecture. Unique boss characters are also introduced, each with a touch of folklore, myths and fairy tales from the same period, enriching the narrative fabric of the game.
Existing adventurers are provided an easy entry point to the new region with the quest « Emma’s Invitation » received from the Black Spirit. By following this questline, players will eventually lead to the port of Nampo, the gateway to this new world of mint. Curiously, the new region is not reserved exclusively for seasoned adventurers. Newbies can opt for the Land of Morning Light as a starting point, creating a seamless integration between new and veteran players.
The new region reveals a unique gaming experience through a « Collection of Tales », a series of eight interwoven stories. Adventurers have the freedom to choose their own narrative paths, encouraging a non-linear progression that sets this region apart from traditional gameplay. Included in the tales are unique characters such as the fierce tiger lord Sangoon, the savage Golden Pig King, the vengeful ghost Songakshi and others, who promise a plethora of thrilling encounters.
One of the highlights of this new expansion is the Boss Blitz challenge, « Black Shrine ». After defeating a boss, Adventurers can further test their skills by facing a more formidable version of the same boss. These challenges are divided into ten « Calamities », with each boss vulnerable to one of three « Auras ».
In particular, bosses can only receive and deal damage based on a specific ratio: 90% aura attribute and 10% character stat. Players can use « Orbs of Light » earned from the main quest line to invest in auras, adding an extra layer of strategy to gameplay.
This expansion also introduces a new high-level piece of equipment, « Dahn’s Gloves ». Adventurers can acquire this item for cheap from bosses or gather prerequisite materials based on their weekly rankings. The coveted « Flame of Hongik » forms an integral part of these manufacturing requirements.
The launch of the « Land of the Morning Light » was marked by a number of events. Adventurers can participate to get rewards like shimmering blue jades and the rare morning light box. Additionally, the Caphras Stone Extraction event allows veteran adventurers to mine Caphras Stones for a single silver, providing a unique opportunity for advancement in the game.
