Users will still have their pick of Intel-powered mini-PC systems from other manufacturers, with a myriad of options available from both familiar and unfamiliar brands, but we won’t have to argue about the pronunciation of Intel’s Next Unit of Computing acronym anymore. Nuck? Corner? To knock? It never really mattered, but NUC is only part of the computer story now.
HardwareLUXX (German language) verified this news and provided this statement from Intel:
“We have decided to discontinue direct investments in the Next Unit of Compute (NUC) business and to refocus our strategy to enable our ecosystem partners to continue the innovation and growth of NUC. This decision will not impact the rest of the Intel Client Computing Group (CCG) or Network and Edge Computing (NEX) business. Additionally, we are working with our partners and customers to ensure a smooth transition and fulfillment of all of our current commitments, including continued support for NUC products currently on the market.
